A Slice of Good News Amidst the Pain of Coronavirus

As an independent business we’ve had our fair share of pain over the past few weeks like everyone else, and I’m sure this uncertainty will continue for some time.
But, at a time when good news is thin on the ground, we wanted to share a small announcement about a new client we’ve been working with recently.
Telford Mann Pensions & Investments, based in Kettering, contacted Topline PR before anyone in the UK had even uttered the word ‘coronavirus’ asking us to help with raising their company profile and getting their news out into the public domain.
As a forward-thinking company which invests heavily in its staff, Telford Mann is also actively involved with many community organisations.
This means that each month there are a wealth of PR opportunities which can be used to generate positive coverage in both the local press and in industry specific publications.
We’ve managed to secure a good deal coverage about their activities, including those related to the disease, such as offering support to their vulnerable clients by getting staff to deliver food and other essential items, as well as the fantastic achievements by the team and the numerous fundraising events the company is involved in throughout the year.
Telford Mann works in the investment world and the parallels between this arena and public relations are not immediately obvious.
But there is one distinct similarity; One of the fundamental principles of successful investing is to not panic about market events. Hold firm and continue with your plan even when everything is plummeting because in the long-term history has shown that it will go up again. Time in the market, not timing the market is crucial.
A similar long-term view should be taken with PR as well. A consistent output of positive news through good times and bad will keep your company in the public eye and steer people towards it when they need your services.
Short-term PR campaigns can have an impact, but if you’re looking for a more consistent growth pattern throughout the year then an ongoing relationship with your agency is likely to produce the best results.
